This engagement involved a three-day strategic grant writing training programme conducted for the Karatina University Senate from 3–5 June 2025. The training was designed to strengthen institutional capacity in competitive grant acquisition by equipping senior academic and administrative leadership with practical skills in proposal development and funding readiness.

The programme covered core aspects of grant writing, including understanding donor landscapes, aligning research and institutional priorities with funding calls, structuring competitive proposals, budgeting and compliance, and strengthening governance and oversight roles in research funding. Emphasis was placed on the strategic role of the Senate in fostering a sustainable research funding culture across the university.

The engagement supported Karatina University’s broader goals of enhancing research productivity, external funding success, and institutional research governance.
