How I work

My Approach

I believe that technology in education should not be adopted for its own sake. It should solve real problems, support real learners, and create measurable value for institutions and society.

My background as a secondary-school teacher continues to shape my work. It taught me that effective teaching must remain practical, inclusive, and learner-centred. Today, whether I am designing digital-learning systems, supervising postgraduate research, reviewing academic work, or supporting university partnerships, I bring that same commitment to relevance, clarity, and impact.

“Technology should solve real problems, support real learners, and create measurable value.”

Service

Leadership & Institutional Contribution

Alongside teaching and research, I have served in academic leadership and institutional-development roles that have allowed me to contribute to university strategy, digital transformation, research management, partnership development, and academic capacity building.

In 2026 I served as acting Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration, Finance and Development) and acting Registrar (Planning, Partnerships, Research and Innovation). See positions

Through these roles, I have supported universities in strengthening both their academic mission and their institutional systems.

  • Open, Distance and eLearning strategy
  • International partnerships and linkages
  • Research and innovation support
  • Institutional planning and administration
  • Academic programme development
  • Faculty capacity building in digital learning

Scholarship

Research & Supervision

My research explores how emerging technologies can be applied to strengthen education, health, agriculture, and institutional systems. I am especially interested in practical and interdisciplinary research that connects innovation with development needs.

I have supervised postgraduate research at both Master’s and PhD levels and have served as an external examiner and research reviewer for multiple universities. I view supervision as both an academic and mentoring responsibility—one that helps shape the next generation of scholars, innovators, and institutional leaders.

  • 10theses supervised to completion
  • 3of them at PhD level
  • 22theses examined at three Kenyan universities

Global

International Engagement

A significant part of my work involves building and participating in international academic networks. Over the years, I have engaged with institutions and academic partners across Africa and beyond through visiting faculty roles, collaborative research, external examination, invited lectures, faculty development, academic mobility, and internationalisation initiatives.

  • Collaborative research
  • Academic mobility
  • Doctoral training
  • Digital-learning innovation
  • Curriculum development
  • Cross-border knowledge exchange

Let’s Collaborate

I welcome opportunities to collaborate with universities, researchers, development partners, and academic networks in areas related to digital learning, artificial intelligence, postgraduate research, faculty development, internationalisation, and institutional transformation.
