Secure and trustworthy digital systems

I look at how universities, banks and public services can protect data and build trust in digital services.

What I do

  • Security of student management information systems
  • Biometric identification, including fingerprint and finger-vein approaches
  • Digital forensics
  • Adoption and value of enterprise systems and e-banking

Evidence from my work

  • Digital Forensic and Investigation certificate (2022); CCNA II and CICT III
  • ICT Directorate Board member, Kibabii University (2018 to 2022)
  • Papers: student management information system vulnerabilities (2024); ERP total cost of ownership (2015); e-banking and customer satisfaction (2025)
  • Researcher on the NRF ICT infrastructure grant (KES 64.6 million, 2018)

Supervision and examination

Supervised a risk-remediation model for a student information system and secure fingerprint and finger-vein identification (Master's level); examined theses on biometric adoption in banks and security usability.

Partners and funders

Cyber-capacity and digital public infrastructure programmes are natural partners.

Sustainable Development Goals

  • SDG 9
  • SDG 16 (peace, justice and strong institutions)

Collaboration ideas

  • Vulnerability assessments for university student systems
  • Secure identity for digital public services
  • Data-protection guidance for education and health data
